Why an Easy Boat Cover Gets Used Every Time

Jeff Fritz explains why the Touchless Cover® keeps his boat clean and makes covering it easy after every ride.

Jeff Fritz does not hedge when he talks about his Touchless Cover®. “I love my Touchless Cover®,” he says. “It keeps my boat super clean, zero maintenance and it’s easy to use and I highly recommend it.”

That short comment reflects on the part of boat ownership people don't like to talk about. A cover can be well made, correctly fitted, and sitting right at the dock, but none of that helps when using it feels like one more job. The cover that protects the boat is the cover the owner will actually put on after every ride.

Ease decides whether the cover gets used

Pollen settles on the seats. Wind carries leaves and dock dust into the cockpit. Skip the cover a few times, and the next trip starts with wiping, sweeping, and cleaning instead of leaving the dock.

That is why Jeff’s words “super clean” and “easy to use” belong together. Our guide to a better end of day boat routine makes the same practical point. Clear wet towels and loose gear, check the cockpit, then cover the boat before walking away.

The boat cleaning guide explains how different surfaces need the right cleaning approach.

The button removes the barrier

Traditional covers can mean snaps, poles, straps, folded fabric, and time spent reaching across the boat. It feels different after a long ride, when the dock is wet, the light is fading, and everyone wants to go home.

The Touchless Cover® changes that step plainly. Push a button, the cover goes up. Push it again, the cover goes down. Done.

Pete Daly described the same advantage in his story about spending more time on the water. Bob Beatty reached a similar decision after dealing with the strain of conventional covers. A system can only help when it fits the boat, dock, lift, and a normal routine. The Touchless Cover® FAQ explains that each setup uses electric motors and can operate through a remote control or smartphone app. Owners still need to follow the instructions for their specific installation and keep the surrounding area clear while it moves.

Less cleanup makes quick rides easier

An hour on the water can feel less appealing when you expect another hour of cleanup before and after it.

Keeping the cockpit covered between outings reduces that barrier. You can uncover the boat, handle the usual predeparture checks, and get moving without first removing a layer of leaves or wiping every seat. The U.S. Coast Guard boater’s guide covers the safety equipment and federal requirements boats must meet, because convenience should never replace preparation. Safety gear, ventilation, fuel, weather, and passenger readiness still need attention.

NOAA’s boating safety guidance advises boaters to check forecasts and stay alert to changing conditions. An automatic cover makes routine storage simpler, but it does not turn unsafe weather into a boating day or replace a storm plan.

Easy use is the practical benefit

Jeff’s recommendation is convincing because he keeps it simple. He cares that the boat stays clean, the system asks little from him, and operation is easy. Those are daily benefits, not showroom talking points.

The remote controlled Touchless Cover® system is custom built around that ordinary dock moment when the ride is over and the boat needs to be put away. It does not wash the boat, inspect the engine, dry wet gear, or make ownership maintenance free, but it certainly takes some of the stress out of cleaning up after a day on the water.

What the system can remove is the repeated handling of a manual cover. That matters because a simple task is easier to complete without excuses. When the cover goes down with a button, protecting the boat becomes part of leaving the dock rather than a chore saved for later.

That difference can decide whether the boat gets covered tonight or stays open until someone returns tomorrow. Jeff Fritz gives the best summary in five words. “It’s easy to use.” For an owner who wants a cleaner boat and fewer reasons to skip covering it, that may be the point that matters most.
